However, why is “lithium to slag” a con in the pyrometallurgical operation. This can also be used as an advantage to generate a lithium concentrate with lithium contents comparable to mined lithium concentrates. Even the recovery of lithium from slag seems to be possible.

One more appropriate con could be, that lithium cannot be enriched solely in one product (eg. flue dust or slag), as a part of the lithium is either lost in the slag or in the dust.
